Throughout history, women have played pivotal roles in shaping our world, contributing invaluable achievements, resilience, and impact. Baker College is proud to honor and celebrate the remarkable women who have made a difference, both globally and within our own community. As part of Baker’s Women’s History Month celebration, the college is delighted to host a virtual speaking event featuring Lakota Harden.

Harden, a member of the Minnecoujou/Yankton Lakota and HoChunk communities, brings with her a wealth of experience and insight. As an award-winning organizer, community leader, and elder, she has been at the forefront of Native American struggles for more than four decades. Her dedication to social justice has earned her recognition, including the Brave Hearted Woman Award from Mills College (Oakland, CA) and the Sisters of Fire Award from the Women of Color Resource Center– which is presented to leading women of color activists and artists for their outstanding commitments to social justice.
